Short description: Knowing analytical methods in the study of the aquatic environment.
Full description: The courseincludes discussion of current analytical techniques in biological research and taking into account the biotic components (plants and animals) and abiotic components (water, sediments, soil) environment. The classes are conducted fieldwork to collect research material originating from the environment and labs to conduct the analyzes of samples taken.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: It has the knowledge to interpret natural phenomena and processes in research and practical work. Know research methodology in force in the natural sciences. It characterizes and distinguishes elements of biotic and abiotic components of the aquatic environment. Indicates and characterize methods testing analytical material hydrobiologicznego. Knows the risks arising from exposure to toxic substances to humans and animals. Skills: Plans and executes under the guidance of a tutor, Laboratory and field research tasks or expertise in the field biology. Take the appropriate decisions on the selection of research techniques and can apply them in practice. Properly documented studies. Efficiently and safely uses research equipment and measuring instruments used in biology. It uses the methods used in the analytical laboratory: optical, spectroscopic, electroanalytical, distribution.Able to assess the factors affecting the outcome of laboratory tests, avoiding mistakes before and postanalitycznych. Interprets test results laboratory based on the standards and values of reference. Collects and interprets data from analyzes and on this basis draw conclusions. Social competences: Be aware of the effects of group work. Can work in a team and organize fieldwork thinking creatively. Able to lead a team and to work together. To act in accordance with the principles of safety and health at work biological laboratories, showing the responsibility for assessing the risks of applied research techniques. It shows attention to creating conditions for safe operation. It shows creativity and is able to determine the priorities for the task, including teamwork.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Assessment Exercise:one written test to assess (the last class), giving a report of exercises, the current rating (based on oral statements) progress in learning and activity. Attendance at the exercises is mandatory; student can have only one unexcused absence. In the absence excused student is required to pass the relevant part of the material. Assessment exercises based on the average ratings. Completion of the course: students holding a valid credit Exercise pass a written test part of the lecture - exam (20 questions). Assessment takes 45 minutes. If the test is not included in the first term the student has the right again cautioned him orally or in writing within retake.
